Now the tail am I...
The middle...
The head...
And then I soar to the sky.
In a singularity's abysmal depth,
Far beyond
Space and time,
For an eternity had been I...
Its cosmic bang witnessed I...
Light's birth...
The galactic flight...
Myriad stars shining heavenly bright!
On a small planet called earth
finally settled I...
Saw life's birth...
Weeds, fish, mammals, intelligence...I.
With great Achilles in Troy fought I,
And Homer's Iliad
and Odyssey
An old bard in all of Greece sang I....
A pupil of Socrates and Aristotle was I,
And the Olympian
gods dethroned,
And new gods brought to life...
Giordano Bruno I saw be burned alive
For his great
sin of making
Our sun the center of man's life!
Out of the dark ages sprang I,
And with Descartes,
Locke, Hegel and Kant
The modern man slowly fashioned I...
But it was science's classic rebirth
That finally
lifted me high
And gave me wings to reach the sky.
And now rid of my superstitious biblicality,
I saw with delight
And great clarity
A man on the steps of his own immortality!
Once the tail was I...
The middle...
The head...
But now I...I must bid goodbye.
